Let’s Cook a Beefstew ~Silver Part~
Chef Ghost: Let me introduce you to… Tada! An “electric pressure cooker”!
Silver: An electric pressure cooker…!
Silver: I see. If I use a pressure cooker I can drastically reduce the stewing time.
Silver: On top of it if it’s electric it has a timer. Even if I fall asleep the ingredients wouldn’t be burnt.
Chef Ghost: Well… yeah, that’s about it. You said it all before I could explain anything.
Silver: It’s the first time I use electrical appliances for cooking.
Riddle: What, the first time!? Even me who don't cook on a daily basis have used a microwave at the very least.
Silver: I know it exists of course…
Silver: But there’s a cafeteria in this school so I didn’t have the chance to use it.
Silver: In the Valley of Thorns, let alone microwaves, there aren’t even wall sockets inside the houses.
Riddle: You really use magic for everything huh… I cannot quite imagine it.
Riddle: But if I live in the Valley of Thorns I feel like I might become even better at using magic.
Silver: If it’s someone of your magic power and skills, I think you’ll have no problem living in my homeland.
Chef Ghost: Silver-kun, put the ingredients in the pressure cooker.
Chef Ghost: Choose from the menu “beef stew” and switch it on!
*beep*
Silver: It says there’re 20 minutes left.
Chef Ghost: Now we can rest. Let’s wait for it to boil.
Silver: Shouldn’t we check the cooker? What about mixing it?
Chef Ghost: It’s all good, the cooker will do it all perfectly for us. Rather, if you interrupt you might mess it up.
Chef Ghost: Let the cooker be, and let’s make some demiglace sauce!
~~~
Silver: We made the sauce surprisingly quickly. I'll wash the pots and knifes we don't use anymore.
Silver: ...Wash… ...the pot….
Chef Ghost: Ah! Listen here, Silver-kun!
Silver: Hah! That was a close one, I was about to fall asleep. As soon as I let my guard down this happens.
Silver: What is it?
Chef Ghost: Earlier you stole my time to show off so let me explain about the electric pressure cooker.
Silver: Yes, by all means.
Chef Ghost: There are many menus registered in the pressure cooker but you don’t necessarily have to use it according to the recipe.
Chef Ghost: If you change the ingredients and seasoning you can arrange it so it fits your taste.
Chef Ghost: For example, we have ingredients boiling now right?
Chef Ghost: If you insert tomato juice instead of demiglace sauce, you’ll have a tomato stew.
Silver: ....Tomato juice is my father’s favorite food.
Silver: Tomato juice instead of sauce… Father might like it very much.
~~ ♪
Silver: What was that sound? Ah, it’s already done.
Chef Ghost: Open the lid of the cooker. Be careful not to get a burn.
Silver: Yes.
*clink*
Silver: This is…
Silver: Both the vegetables and the meat are properly boiled. To think they would become so soft in just 20 minutes.
Chef Ghost: Well then, let’s proceed to the finishing touches.
Silver: For the seasoning we have the demiglace we made earlier and some ketchup. About this much?
Silver: Yeah, it’s delicious.
Silver: I’ll put it on a plate and add some boiled broccolis.
Silver: ...Alright, it’s perfect.
Chef Ghost: It turned out quite well! Let’s take it to the judges.
Silver: Yes. No matter how strong an opponent they throw at me, victory will definitely be mine…!
Chef Ghost: Hey, it’s not like we’re going to war.
Cafeteria - Judging Venue
???: So you’ll be treating me to your cooking, Silver.
Silver: Jamil, I often hear from Kalim about how good your cooking is.
Silver: You’re the real thing even here in school… ugh, can I beat you the way I am right now?
Jamil: What kind of battle are you planning for us? Whatever, I’ll go ahead and taste it.
*bites*
Jamil: The taste is… yeah, it’s pretty normal.
Silver: Normal huh…
Jamil: But…
Jamil: But I can tell the ingredients are well boiled. The meat is so soft it’s melting in my mouth.
Jamil: I bet it took a while to make? Though you might’ve fallen asleep in the middle of it…
Silver: Yeah, I was worried about it. The truth is, I was attacked by sleepiness while it was stewing.
Silver: I was able to cook well because the Chef let me use an electric pressure cooker.
Silver: Because the stewing time was short, I was able to overcome it without falling asleep.
Jamil: I’m surprised. I thought the goal of the “Masterchef” program was to diligently study cooking skills but...
Jamil: For students who have problems with techniques or aptness, prevention is better than cure. I learned something new.
Silver: Yeah, I learned a great trick to compensate for my own unskillfulness.
Silver: Even if I fall asleep, as long as I set a timer I won't burn my cooking.
Silver: And when the time you set comes music starts playing, so I can wake up from the sound… probably.
Jamil: Where did the idea of using the cooker as an alarm clock come from…
Silver: I can’t keep on depending on tools… but I think it’s needed for me right now.
~~~
Jamil: Thank you for the food.
Jamil: It’s a bit tricky for me to tell your real skills, but well, it tasted good.
Silver: I couldn’t achieve a perfect victory, but I avoided flighting shamefully… I’ll continue to devote myself.
Chef Ghost: Good job! You were able to go until the end without falling asleep.
Silver: Right… now that you mention it.
Silver: I want to make for my father the tomato stew and cabbage roll you taught me…
Silver: Because I kept thinking about it, maybe I forgot about my tiredness?
Chef Ghost: We also feel like “We’ll do our best to make food!” when we imagine the faces of people enjoying our cooking.
Silver: I see… For cooking, the most important thing is your mindset.
